London – The US and Russia are expected to release a joint statement on Tuesday which detailed the results of the latest bilateral meetings in Saudi Arabia that discussed potential paths towards peace in Ukraine, Russia’s state media reported.
The closed discussion on Monday in Riyadh lasted for 12 hours, a source told the Russian Tass State Media Agency. A source told the State Media Agency Ria Novosti that a joint statement about negotiations would be issued on Tuesday.
Grigory Karasin, Chairperson of the International Affairs Federation Council Committee, who took part in the discussion in Riyadh, told Tass that “dialogue is detailed and complicated but quite useful for us and for America.” Karasin added, “We discussed many problems.”
The discussion is expected to include discussions about the potential of a ceasefire in the Black Sea, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Monday. The proposal, said Peskov, came from President Donald Trump and was approved by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Pauses proposed in long distance attacks on energy and other critical infrastructure targets are also expected to be part of the discussion. Although President Putin and Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy both approved the proposal in principle last week, cross-border attacks continued.
US and Ukraine representatives held talks after the American meeting with the Russian team ended, a source who was familiar with the discussion told ABC News.
On Monday, responding to the round of Russian missiles and other drone attacks on Ukraine cities, Zelenskyy wrote on social media that “The war was brought from Russia and for Russia that war must be pushed back. They must be peaceful. They are people who must be suppressed to ensure security.”
