Vice President JD Vance doubled the interest of Trump’s government in acquiring Greenland on Friday when visiting the United States Pituffik Room Base when President Donald Trump argued that the US “could not” do it without the island.
Vance stressed how Greenland is very important for US national security when talking to reporters on Friday afternoon.
“Well, the President said we must have Greenland. And I think we should be more serious about Greenland’s security,” he said. “We cannot ignore this place. We cannot ignore the President’s wishes.”

Trump has repeatedly suggested that the US must take over Greenland “in one way or another” for national security purposes and when he continues to emphasize the interests of Greenland when China and Russia increase activities at the North Pole.
“We must have Greenland. This is not the question: Do you think we can do it without it? We can’t,” he said at the Oval Office on Friday. “If you see Greenland now, if you see the waterways, you have a Chinese and Russian ship in all places, and we will not be able to do that.
“We do not rely on Denmark or other people to take care of the situation,” he added. “And we don’t talk about peace for the United States.”

“Greenland is very important for world peace – not us, peace all over the world,” said Trump, who made an offer about buying Greenland in his first term of office at the office. “And I think Denmark understands it. I think the European Union understands it. And if not, we must explain it to them.”
However, Vance noted that administration “Respect for the determination of the own fate of the Greenland people” but they would be better served by the US Security Umbrella.

“Yes, the Greenland people will have their own determination,” he said. “We hope they choose to partner with the United States because we are the only countries on earth that will respect their sovereignty and respect their security – because their security is our security, as shown by these brave Americans.”
Vance added that Denmark did not make Greenland and US troops in the base safe from “very aggressive attacks from Russia, from China and from other countries.”
“Our message to Denmark is very simple: You have not done a good job by Greenland people. You have underestimated the Greenland people, and you have underestimated this extraordinary and beautiful land security architecture that is filled with extraordinary people. It must change,” he said.

The second vice president and second woman Usha Vance arrived in Greenland on Friday for a back visit to the Pituffik Room Base, where he delivered a speech and received a briefing after the couple greeted the US service members who were placed there. When meeting with service members, JD Vance noted that he was the first vice president to visit Greenland, saying it was “a very cool thing,” before giving a general picture of the visit.
“We spoke with orders and some guardians about what the base was actually done and all the important ways he contributed for national security. We will get a briefing, of course, about, you know, what you do every day,” he said.
The vice president said he was told that the assignment to the base was a one -year assignment, without a companion, which meant that service members could not bring their families.
“So I know this is a lot of sacrifice, spending one year away from your family, but the mission is very important,” he added. “Trump’s administration, the president is really interested in the security of the north pole. As you all know, it’s a big problem, and it will only be bigger over the next few decades. Thank you for doing what you are doing.”

Vances joined the journey by national security adviser Mike Waltz, Energy Secretary Chris Wright and Senator Mike Lee. This trip was originally planned as a second woman’s visit to attend a dog race, but the plan was canceled after severe criticism.
Wright told Fox News on Thursday that Greenland had tried for many years to attract US mining companies to develop resources there because there was no adequate infrastructure to make mining an economical.
“So, Heck, maybe that will happen,” he said. “I think it’s for the best interests of Greenland and Greenland, and they have stated it for years. If the United States can have the right cooperation, I think capital can flow there, which will bring work and economic opportunities to Greenland and critical minerals and resources to the United States – victory for both parties.”
The idea of Greenland became part of the US opposed by many people in Greenland and Denmark, where Greenland is an autonomous region.

Usha Vance was initially scheduled to travel to learn about Greenland’s cultural heritage and attend a race before it was announced that the Vice President, Waltz and Wright would join him. The journey was then upgraded back to a visit to the space base.
JD Vance and Waltz are at the scandal center over recognized conversations that discuss attacks on Houthi rebels in Yemen on commercially available signal applications that accidentally include Jeffrey Goldberg from Atlantic, who reported the details of the conversation on Monday.
Officials in Greenland and Denmark have pushed backagainst visits.

Reuters reported that the Danish Defense Minister disrupted Lund Poulsen called Trump’s statement as “escalation” in Trump’s rhetoric.
“A very strong statement about this close allies is not in accordance with the US President,” Poulsen told reporters at Copenhagen on Thursday. “I need to speak clearly against what I see as an escalation from the American side.”
On Wednesday, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said in a post on social media that the US provided “unacceptable pressure” to Greenland and Denmark ahead of the unkbery visits, adding that the two regions would “fight.”
The visit time was criticized in Greenland and Denmark when Greenland tried to gather the coalition government after the parliamentary election two weeks ago.
