President Donald Trump on Monday gave an unconditional forgiveness to a Sheriff Virginia who had been convicted of federal bribery and was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison.

Scott Jenkins, who has become a Sheriff County Culpeper, Virginia, will report to prison on Tuesday.

“Sheriff Scott Jenkins, his wife Patricia, and their families have been dragged through hell by a corrupt and armed Biden Doj,” Trump wrote in a statement about social truth. “In fact, during his trial, when Sheriff Jenkins tried to offer proof of expenditure to support himself, Judge Biden, Robert Ballou, refused to allow it, close it, and then continued the scolding.”

Culpeper County, Virginia, Sheriff Scott Jenkins spoke during the arms rights demonstration organized by Virginia Citizens Defense League in Square Capitol near the Capital City Building, January 2020, in Richmond, Va.

“As we have seen, in federal courts, cities, and states, left judges or radical liberals allow evidence to what it feels, not what is mandated based on the constitution and evidence,” he added. “Sheriff is a victim of the Biden Justice Department who is too excited, and does not deserve to spend one day in prison.”

Jenkins faced the jury trial at the end of 2024 but was not punished until March 2025 under Trump’s reign. Acting US lawyer Zachary T. Lee, who represented the US government, and therefore Trump’s government, in this case, was still functioning as a US Acting for the Western District of Virginia.

Trump praised Jenkins as “extraordinary person, who was persecuted by ‘Radical Left Monster,’ and ‘went to die.’ This is why I, as President of the United States, so Fit to end his unfair punishment, and Grant Sheriff Jenkins is full and unconditional.

Jenkins was sentenced by a jury in December 2024 for allegations including a conspiracy accusation, four accusations of honest service fraud and seven accusations of bribery regarding programs funded by the federal government.

Lee wrote in the march sentence that Jenkins repeated violated public trust “by exploiting her official power for personal gain.”

“After he was arrested, he tried to manipulate the judicial process and avoid responsibility for his crime by lying to the court and the jury,” Lee added.

“In short, Jenkins’s lies and abuse of power in instant cases are not deviations,” he said. “Since the early days in law enforcement, Jenkins has shown shocking neglect of her ethical and legal responsibilities.”

The Department of Justice has said in a press release In March that he had received more than $ 75,000 in cash payments to “appoint many North Virginia entrepreneurs as additional sheriff representatives within his department.”

“Scott Jenkins violated the oath of his office and faith placed by Culpeper citizens in him when he was involved in a cash scheme,” Lee said at the time.

“We hold our elected law enforcement officials with higher standards of behavior and this case proves that when these officials use their authority for unfair personal enrichment, the Department of Justice will ask for their accountability,” he added.
