President Donald Trump said he would appoint the host of Fox News and former prosecutor Jeanine Pirro as a temporary US lawyer for Columbia District.
Trump announced Pick in a post about social truth.
The choice came when Trump told reporters at the Oval office on Thursday that Ed Martin, who currently serves as the main prosecutor of DC, will not take a permanent position after losing support among the top Republicans in the Senate.
ABC News has reported previously that Trump is targeting Pirro for that position.
The White House did not immediately respond to requests for comments from ABC News. Representatives for the Fox News press relationship did not immediately respond to ABC News comments requests, nor were Pirro.
Pirro has become Trump’s old ally, since its time as a prominent prosecutor in New York. He was the early supporter of the 2016 campaign and openly defended him during the “Access Hollywood” tape scandal.
Following Trump’s loss in the 2020 election, Pirro encouraged fake election fraud accusations involving a voting machine and then among the Fox News employees mentioned in the defamation suit for the Dominion ballot system to broadcast fake claims about the company. Fox News finally chose $ 787.5 million and admitted his statement was wrong.
In 2019, Pirro was reportedly suspended by Fox News after he questioned the loyalty of Democratic Congress members Ilhan Omar to the US Constitution, quoting the Muslim faith of Omar.

Martin, who has competed to become the top prosecutor in one of the most important US lawyer offices in the country, has served as a temporary US lawyer since the beginning of the government, but the temporary term ended on May 20.
Martin promoted the “Stop The Steal The Steal” campaign Donald Trump in 2021 and he himself was seen on the land of Capitol during the January 6 attack on the US Capitol.
Trump said Thursday that Martin could serve in other capacities in the Department of Justice.
One of Trump’s last action before leaving the office in 2021 was to issue a forgiveness of the last minute to Pirro’s ex -husband, the old GOP donor.
With less than an hour before his term of office ended, Trump gave the last forgiveness to Albert Pirro, who was sentenced to more than two decades ago over 34 conspiracy and tax embezzlement after he was discovered incorrectly reduced more than $ 1 million in luxurious personal costs as a taxation of taxes for his business.
