In the midst of calling for him to resign as a minority leader of the Senate, Senator Chuck Schumer said he would not and defended his decision to support sustainable resolution to fund the government.
“CR is of course bad, you know, a sustainable resolution. But the closure will be 15 or 20 times worse,” Schumer told NBC “Meet the Press” on Sunday. “Under the closure, the executive branch has a single power to determine what, quote,” is important. “And they can determine without the supervision of the court. The court has decided that it is only up to what executives must be closed. With Musk, and Doge, and Truf, and this person [Office of Management and Budget Director Russell] Vought, as the Head of OMB, they will trap the Federal government. “

In an interview with Jonathan Karl’s co-dichor at ABC News’ “This Week,” Independent Senator Bernie Sanders said he had been disappointed with the Democratic response to Trump’s second term of office. But he said this problem surpassed Schumer.
“There is no one who is more critical of Chuck Schumer than me, and not only in this matter. But the point is not only Chuck Schumer, not only Chuck Schumer. You also get a Democratic Party dominated by billionaires, as paid by Republicans, paid by many people here.
Democratic representative Ro Khanna will not say whether he will encourage Democratic Reput Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to challenge Schumer for the re-election in three years, but says there are others in the party who must encourage him to do it.
“Well, that’s really the decision. I will say that there are many people in Democratic retreats who have pushed him,” Khanna said about the “state of the union” CNN. “But this is what I will say: Americans are fed up with old guards. There needs to be an update. You know, in Silicon Valley, when a company is not good, you don’t store the same team, and I think there will be a new generation in this country. They want to see more interesting economic messages.”
