London – American air strikes in Yemen killed at least 68 people at the migrant detention center in the Governor of Saada, according to the country’s civil defense organization.

47 other people were injured in strikes in the city of Saada, in the northwest of the country, said Yemen’s civilian defense in a statement posted to Telegram on Monday morning.

This surprised center accommodates about 100 African migrants, Yemen’s civilian defense said. There are no direct US comments about strikes.

A statement issued by the US military central command before alleged attacks on the migrant center reportedly said “intense and sustainable campaigns” since March 15 have so far hit more than 800 targets and “killed hundreds of Houthi fighters and many Houthi leaders, including senior Houthi missiles and UAV officials.”

President Donald Trump’s administration intensified the US air strike campaign against Houthi forces in Yemen from March 15, expanding the campaign that began under former President Joe Biden in responding to Houthi attacks on commercial and military shipments and attacked Israel.

Houthi began their attack in October 2023, in response to the Israeli military campaign in Gaza launched after Hamas 7 October 2023, attacking to South Israel where 1,200 people were killed and 253 were kidnapped.

Central Command said the strike “had decreased the speed and effectiveness of their attacks. The launch of ballistic missiles had fallen 69%. In addition, the attack from the drone of one -way attack had decreased by 55%.”

“The US strike destroys the ability of the Port of Ras Isa to receive fuel that will begin to influence Houthi’s ability to not only carry out operations, but also to produce millions of dollars in income for their terror activities,” the statement said.

“Iran is undoubtedly continuing to provide support to Houthi,” continued the Central Command. “Houthis can only continue to attack our troops with the support of the Iranian regime.”

“We will continue to increase pressure until the destination is met, which remains the restoration of American navigation and prevention freedom in the region,” the order said.
