The newly released audio clip seems to show former President Joe Biden who struggles to remember the date of important events in his life, including the death of his son Beau.

The audio clip, first given to Axios, came from an investigation of former special advisor Robert Hur about handling Biden’s secret documents after leaving the presidential representative and occurred on days after the Hamas attack on Israel in October 2023.

In the clip released by AxiosBiden stopped several times and seemed to fight when he told various details, including the years he spent as vice president, when President Donald Trump officially served and when his late son died.

Biden sat for more than five hours with a medium, which gave his 345 page report to the Department of Justice, which released it immediately after in February 2024. The Biden government gave Biden’s full interview to the Congress a month later, which released it.

Axios only issued this small piece from the audio they got.

“Transcripts were released by the Biden government more than a year ago. Audio did nothing but confirmed what was published,” Biden spokesman Kelly Scully said in a statement to ABC News.

The Biden administration refused to release the audio recording itself, by Biden requested the executive privilege. Former Attorney General Merrick Garland was detained by insulting the congress by House Republicans for his rejection to release audio.

As ABC News reported earlier, Trump’s administration is ready to release full audio, reject the argument proposed by Biden administration officials who reveal such evidence from closed criminal investigations can prevent high profile subjects in the future from providing the same cooperation to investigators.

This release appears in the heels of books that have revealed reporting on how biden and inner circles are allegedly trying to protect aspects of their mental capacity which decreases during the presidency.

ABC News has not been independently obtaining audio. A spokesman for the White House merely referred ABC to the Axios clip. It is not clear immediately how Axios obtains audio from a closed criminal investigation.

Trump’s government separately has rejected efforts by the supervisory group and media organization to release a report on a former special advisor Jack Smith about handling Trump on secret material after leaving the White House in 2021, which resulted in Trump charged with 40 criminal accusations related to alleged errors in handling national defense and obstruction information.
