LONDON-At least 27 people were killed and more than 90 people were injured by Israeli forces when they waited to gather humanitarian assistance at the distribution center in the southern Gaza Strip on Tuesday morning, according to the Ministry of Health managed by Hamas Gaza.
Many victims of the deceased and 37 were suddenly injured in the Nasser medical complex in Khan Younis, according to Atef Al-Hout, Director General of the Hospital, who said most of the victims came from shots.
Israeli defense forces released a statement that recognized a shooting of about 500 meters from one of the aid locations carried out by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation supported by the US and Israel.
“Previously today, during the crowd movement on the route set on the way to the distribution complex, about half a kilometer from the complex, IDF troops identified a number of suspects who moved towards them while deviating from the access route,” the statement said.
“The troops fired shots dodged, and after they did not move, additional shots were fired near the individual suspects who advanced towards the troops,” he added.

“The victim’s report is known, the details of the incident are being investigated,” IDF said.
IDF said that they allowed GHF to “operate independently to distribute assistance to Gaza residents and prevent it from reaching Hamas terrorist organizations.”
“IDF troops do not prevent Gaza residents from reaching the aid distribution complex,” he added. “The shooting was carried out about half a kilometer from the distribution complex to the individual suspects who approached the troops in a way that endangered them.”
GHF released a statement on Tuesday morning which said “The distribution of assistance was carried out safely and without an incident on our site today.”
However, the organization acknowledged that IDF “was investigating whether a number of civilians were injured after moving beyond a safe corridor and entered a closed military zone.”
“This is an area that is far outside our safe distribution site and operating area,” GHF said. “We recognize the difficult nature of the situation and suggest all civilians to remain in a safe corridor while traveling to our distribution location.”
GHF Assistance Distribution Operations – which have been rejected by the United Nations and other assistance groups to take part in, quoting fears that GHF is not operating independently from Israeli forces – has been overwhelmed by reports of violence.
On Sunday, the Ministry of Health managed by Hamas Gaza said that dozens of people were shot dead and more than 200 were injured by Israeli fires about one kilometer from the distribution location of aid in the south of the strip near the city of Rafah.
IDF and GHF denied the accounts given by the Ministry. UN Secretary General UN Antonio Guterres on Monday called for an independent investigation of the incident.
A GHF spokesman told ABC News on Monday, “There is nothing we consider to be a major incident at our distribution location or surrounding facilities and so far it has been relatively good.”
“However, we are looking for ways to fix it so we can get more food,” added the spokesman. “We were encouraged by our operations in the first week and the fact that we could provide nearly six million food in the first full week.”
