Michigan will face a competitive primary and fierce competition for the US Open Senate seats in the state of battle in 2026.
Three major Democrats have entered the contest, while Republicans Eye reversed the seat, which will be emptied by the retired Senator Gary Peters, D-Mich.
The state of the battlefield had a variety of results for both sides in 2024, with President Donald Trump won in the President’s race and then-rep. Elissa Slotkin, a Democrat, applies in the senate race. Democrats hope to keep the seats open in their hands, while the Republican party hopes to reverse it and add to their majority in the Senate.

Rep. Haley Stevens, a Democrat who represented the 11th Michigan District, revealed on Tuesday that he would run for a senate, with an announcement that focused on the state car industry and how it could be influenced by the tariff charged by the White House.
“Growing up in Michigan means surrounded by innovation, ingenuity and pride in hard work. And from our farmers to our nurses to our producers, Michigan has the best workers in the world,” Stevens said In the video announcement Posted on social media on Tuesday.
“But Donald Trump has a far different plan for Michigan,” he added.
“His chaos and reckless tariffs put tens of thousands of Michigan work in risk,” he said, adding that the costs increased “but all we get is chaos. What do they do?”
Stevens, the first to be elected as the DPR in 2018, was a member of the DPR Education and Manpower Committee and the Sciences, Space and Technology Committee. He also served as Chief of Staff of the President’s duties in the automotive industry during the Obama administration.
In 2022, he experienced a major member of a competitive member of Rep. Andy Levin, although he was supported by outside support from the pro-Israeli group. (As-Israel’s relationship is a heat problem in Michigan and is a problem of slices during the 2024 election)
He will face a competitive democratic primary, which includes two other high profile figures. (One Key Name Removing himself from a fight: Former Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg set aside the Senate offer in March.)
Abdul El-Sayed, former Director of Wayne County, Michigan, Ministry of Health and former candidate for Governor Michigan, announced on Thursday that he would run for the chair and he gave a brief support from Senator Bernie Sanders, I-VT.
“I nominate myself for the US senate because in the state that built a ‘American dream,’ it should not be difficult just to survive,” El-Sayed said In the video announcement It was opened with fiction cartoons, the old style talked about his background.
“We have to fight hard against Trump and [Elon] Musk with more than just a paper paddle and a damaged promise. … This disease is our political corruption by billionaires and companies, while workers who build this country are forgotten, “he added in an announcement in a clip that seems to originate from the recording of podcasts.

Earlier in April, the State Senator Mallory McMorrow announced his own senate offer.
In an Announcement videowhich opened with a news clip of the news clip about Trump and the Musk viral moment clip in February holding the saw, McMorrow said, “There is a time -when that will destroy you. This is not that moment. This moment will challenge us, test us. And if it feels too much? That’s their plan. They want to make you feel helpless. But you are helpless.”

McMorrow entered the national spotlight after being accused without basis aimed at “caring for and sexual sexual TK” in the 2022 fundraising email sent by fellow state senators. He replied to the current floor speech, saying, “I am the biggest threat to your empty scheme that is full of hatred.”
In the video announcement, McMorrow framed Trump’s government as creating a frightening moment in time and said new leaders were needed – echoing debates in the Democratic Party about whether the generation changes were needed at the top of the party.
“There is a lot of fear and anger and uncertainty at this time about people who are in power that frankly do not have a business there. So you know what will not fix it? The same bullshit from Washington,” McMorrow said, “We need a new leader because the same person in the DC that makes us enter this chaos will not be the person who issued us.”
On the republic, the main one is still formed, but one main name has entered the commotion.
Former Rep. Mike Rogers, who nominated himself as a senate in Michigan in 2024 and lost almost to Slotkin, announced in mid -April that he would enter the race.
“The lessons I learned to work on the factory floor, served as officers in the United States Army, and then as a federal agent who protected our community, dropped drug dealers and gangsters – it taught me about grit and sacrifice,” Rogers said In the video announcement.
“I will stand with President Trump,” he added. “And we will fulfill the mandate given to him by Americans. … For me, it will always be America and Michigan first.”

“I guarantee we will protect social security for our seniors,” Rogers added.
In particular, Rogers has received some main support from the Republican Party established – although the main field is not fully determined.
