Captain, who is maneuvering the ship, loses power and mechanical function, and the current “causes the ship to enter the bridge pillar, regarding the mass of the ship where there are several sailors,” said NYPD Head Wilson Amboles during a press briefing.

The sailors were injured due to the masses who attacked the bridge, according to Amboles.

Many mobile videos from the audience nearby catch when the pole, decorated with lights, collided with the bottom of the Brooklyn bridge. Ship crew members are seen hanging from the pillars after the collision.

The National Transportation Safety Council is at the location and will begin its investigation, but initial information shows that it is likely to be a mechanical problem with sailboats, according to officials.
