DHS previously postponed the implementation of real ID several times over the past few years due to Pandemi Covid-19. Now, US residents have less than one week to get the identification form that will soon be requested.
Can I travel without a real ID?
Yes, for now, according to Secretary DHS Kristi Noem.
Noem told the congress panel on May 6 that travelers who had not yet obtained a real ID would still be able to fly domestically, but would be subject to an additional filtering process.

REAL APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

At least, applicants are asked to provide documentation that shows the complete legal name, date of birth, social security number, two proof of address and legal status, according to DHS website.
Proof of Social Security Number can come from the Social Security Administration Account Card or W-2 Form, Salary Pilot, SSA-1099 Form or Non-SSA-1099 Form, according to DHS.

Does the real ID change the passport?
The original ID does not replace a passport for international trips.
However, a valid passport is an appropriate identification for travelers to fly domestically in the US and access a safe federal location without additional documentation, according to DMV.
