The US Army planned a historic parade through the roads of Washington, DC, on June 14 which will coincide with and become part of the 250th celebration that has long been planned by the Army.

The parade will involve around 6,600 troops, tanks and infantry vehicles, flyover helicopters and parachute jumps, according to some people who are familiar with planning efforts, and will also occur on the 79th anniversary of President Donald Trump.

“The Army celebrated its 2550th birthday with several events before June 14,” the army said in a statement on Friday night. “The national level celebration will include the display of spectacular fireworks, parade, and daily festival at the National Mall in Washington, DC. This festival will display the appearance of army equipment, military demonstrations, music performances, and fitness competitions.

“Considering the 250 -year -old important milestone, the Army is exploring options to make the celebration greater, with more demonstrations of capabilities, additional equipment display, and more involvement with the community,” he added. “Parade planning is actively ongoing, and we anticipate around 150 vehicles, 50 aircraft and 6,600 troops to highlight 250 years of Army service to this country.”

Officials said previously Friday that the parade was a possible addition but had warned that no final decision had been made. The Associated Press first reported details involving the latest plans.

The involvement of time and the White House in the planning effort has triggered speculation that Trump uses the Army’s birthday as a reason to get the type of large military parade that he wants during his first term of office at the office. The event was canceled after the estimated reached $ 90 million.

The cost for the June 14 parade this year is unclear, said officials, but it is likely to be steep. This event will require the involvement of several federal institutions, including those who need security. The Army plans to have soldiers from each of the 10 divisions represented in the parade, according to a US official.

Earlier this year, city officials expressed concern that heavy vehicles such as tanks would tear the road and record the city would require significant replacement to repair damaged infrastructure.

The tanks will not be allowed to cross the bridge from Virginia to Washington, DC, only allow them to operate in cities along certain paths, according to an official who is familiar with planning.

Last month, the Army confirmed the possibility of the parade but called it pre-decision.
