Former Vice President Kamala Harris, who mostly remained out of the center of political attention since leaving the office, sharply criticized President Donald Trump – his opponent in the 2024 presidential election – on tariffs, government cuts, and the direction of his government to take the state, during the comment on Wednesday in San Francisco.

His statement, was delivered at the 20th anniversary celebration for Emerge, an organization that supports Democratic women who nominate themselves for positions, come when Trump’s government celebrates its achievements in the first 100 days – the date recognized by Harris.

“Now I know that tonight’s event will coincide with 100 days after the inauguration, and I will submit it to others to provide complete accounting about what has happened so far,” Harris told the audience.

“But I will say this, instead of administration working to advance the highest American ideals, we witnessed the neglect of wholesalers from the ideals,” he said.

Harris has a little public appearance since leaving the White House and has limited his political activities, but on Wednesday night, he called Trump by name.

“We all know that President Trump, his government and their allies rely on the idea that fear can be contagious. They rely on the idea that, if they can make some people afraid, it will have a terrible effect on others,” Harris said.

“But what they ignore, what they have ignored, is that fear is not the only thing that is contagious. Courage is contagious,” Harris told hoarse cheers.

Harris has put forward a similar theme – including the line “courage is contagious” – during the comments at the female summit the color leader in early April.

That courage, Harris added on Wednesday, extended to Americans who protested what he called “the largest man -made economic crisis in the history of modern presidents.”

“Americans throughout the political spectrum that states that the careless presidential tariff hurts workers and families by raising the cost of important things -days of every day, destroying retirement accounts that people spend lifetime, and paralyzing American, large and small businesses force them to stop people, stop employing, or stop investment decisions,” he said.

Trump and the White House argue that the tariff will help Americans better economically in the long run and will level the play field between the US and its trading partners.

Then in his remarks, speaking more broadly about the action of the White House, Harris said he would describe the current moment in America as a “high -speed event” to implement the agenda he claimed “decades in making” to shrink and privatize the government while providing tax relief to the rich.

“This is an agenda, a narrow self-esteem of themselves about America, where they punish the right people, support loyalists, make their strengths and leave everyone to fight alone, all while leaving the allies and withdrawing from the world,” Harris said. “And friends, what we experience now is exactly what they imagine for America.”

Americans must be prepared, if “check and balance” like a congress “in the end collapse,” said Harris, to work together and lift their voices.

“I am not here tonight to offer all the answers, but I’m here to say this, you are not alone, and we are all in this case together – and direct conversation, everything might be worse before they become better, but we are ready for it. We will not spread. We will stand together, all a leader,” Harris said.

At the end of his remarks, Harris told the populist record: “Always remember this country is ours. It is not anyone in the White House. That’s yours. That is ours.”

The former Democratic candidate for the President has had a little public appearance since leaving the White House, and has limits his political activities.

Harris’s speech came because he was determined to re -enter politics in the coming months. Harris has pondered the escape in the California Governor’s race and will make a decision at the end of the summer, two sources who are familiar with his plan to tell ABC News in March.

Some Democrats have also waved him as a potential 2028 presidential candidate, although some supporters have told ABC News that they were divided from the prospect.

Whether he nominates himself for the office or not, said the public Harris so far sometimes included covert and explicit friction in the Trump and President’s own government.

In his remarks at the female summit the color leader in early April, he considered the second Trump government, saying “there is a fear that has controlled our country” but “courage is also contagious.”

And in the comments on the NaACP Image Awards in February, Harris frame the “chapter” of America is one of the “will be written not only by anyone who occupies the Oval office or by the most richest among us. American story will be written by you. Written by us. By us people.”

Harris and his partner, Doug Emhoff, have become the target of new actions by Trump.

Trump issued a memo in March which revoked security permits and access to confidential information from the previous President – Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris – and more than a dozen former administrative officials. On Tuesday, Emhoff said he had been dismissed from the Holocaust US Museum Supervisory Board when the White House confirmed that he had removed the board members.
