Inflation cools after the levy “Liberation Day” President Donald Trump last month, down to the lowest level of four years and opposes fears of price increases driven by tariffs, government data shows this week.
Even the price of eggs – a symbol of an increase in costs – down by around 10% in April compared to the previous month.
However, the price for some products continues to soar, including daily items such as coffee and beef.
It is normal for some prices to rise at a much faster speed than overall inflation, said Omar Sharif, founder and president of the Inflation Insights research company. The impact, he added, depends on the role played by these goods in certain people’s finances.
“In the end, the important thing is the weight changes in your budget,” Sharif said, noting the stubborn price increase for some items might be balanced with a price reduction for others.

This is what must be known about which prices are still rising and what is behind the trend:
Coffee
The price of coffee jumped 9.6% in April compared to last year, marking inflation four times higher than the overall level. The price of instant coffee has risen faster, jumping 13.5% over the past year.
The surge in the price of coffee descended into a scarcity of supply along with strong demand, which means too much dollar chasing too little coffee beans, David Ortega, a food economist at Michigan State University, told ABC News.
The new drought in Vietnam and Brazil – two of the largest coffee producers in the world – have limited global output, said Ortega.
“The price increase is mainly driven by weather shocks,” Ortega added.
Meanwhile, coffee drinkers use several alternatives, resulting in consistent demand for the product.
Beef
The surge in the price of beef also comes from a shortage of supplies that track back to drought conditions, said Ortega.
The price of land beef jumped 10% in April compared to last year, while the cost of beef steak increased 7% from that period, government data showed.
In 2022, a large drought in the beef -producing area in the US forced cattle herds to sell more animals than usual, because drought collects costs for animal feed, which in turn makes it more expensive for farmers to maintain their flocks, said Ortega.
Many of the breeders, he added, sold livestock needed to produce beef supply in the future.
“The herd of national beef is at the lowest level in a few decades – and strong demand,” Ortega said. “When the two things meet each other, you get this big price increase.”

Car repair
The price of the car repair jumped 7.6% in April compared to the previous year, amounting to inflation three times higher than the overall level.
Most of the debt trends in the rise of high-tech cars, equipped with features such as mirror cameras and traffic sensors, which have added costs even for some routine repairs, Brian Moody, Executive Editor at the Autotrader, told ABC News.
The lack of workers has worsened the misery of costs for repair companies because they increase compensation to attract and maintain employees, sending higher prices, Moody added.
“More people want technology in their cars,” Moody said. “The technology requires greater skills to be managed and improved, but at the same time, there are shortcomings of technicians and workers.”
Men’s Outer Clothing
The overall price of clothing dropped slightly from the year ended in April, but some items may still provide a surprise sticker for spring buyers.
Prices for male external clothing, including sports coats and coats, rose 5.3% from the year ended in April, which amounts to inflation more than double the total level.
Costs of Women’s Outer Clothing – Which includes jackets, coats and vests – jumped faster, up 6.2%.
Sharif, from inflation insight, said the reason for the price increase was bleak because they coincided with a much slower increase in costs for manufacturers of male external clothing and a decrease in production costs for women’s outside clothing.
The supply of the product which means that the price increase is likely to occur due to the strangeness in consumer tastes, has the potential to result from the price ordered by a special brand, added Sharif.
“The shift in demand trends might encourage higher prices,” Sharif said.
