The DPR narrowly chose to approve the GOP Budget blueprint on Thursday with the votes 216-214, giving a big victory to President Donald Trump’s legislative agenda.

“I am happy to tell you that this morning, I am sure we have a voice to finally adopt a budget resolution so that we can advance in the agenda of President Trump which is very important for the American people,” DPR Speaker Mike Johnson said at a press conference with the majority leader of the Senate John Thune before the voting.

Johnson suffered a setback on Wednesday night when he was forced to cancel the planned vote due to opposition from a small group of Republican hardliners who were worried that the budget would add to the country’s deficit.

Johnson said he had “very productive” considerations with members on Wednesday night and on Thursday seeks to highlight efforts to cut expenses of more than one trillion dollar.

“We are committed to finding at least $ 1.5 trillion in savings for the American people while also preserving our important programs,” Johnson said.

Thune seems less enthusiastic about the target of deficit reduction but gently supports the high purpose of the DPR for budget savings – announcing the senate ambitions for fiscal sustainability “in harmony with the DPR.”

“We have to do something to get a country on a more sustainable way fiscal and that requires us to take difficult rubbing from our government, find out where we can find the savings,” Thune said. “The speaker has spoken about $ 1.5 trillion. We have many US senators who believe it is the minimum and we will do everything we can to be as aggressive as possible.”

President Trump, who was personally involved in an effort to adopt the action, was weighed on Thursday morning that the Republican party “was getting closer.”

“‘The Big Bill, Indah’ came very well. The Republican Party cooperated well.

Johnson faces a short window to get a size above the finish line before the house is scheduled to do April recess two weeks.

The speaker is only able to have only three defeats from his Coast with all members who choose and attend.

GOP House leaders have scrambled for the past week to lock the votes, after more than 20 Republicans expressed concern that the Senate resolution set a floor of only $ 4 billion in savings. Now, Johnson said he had the support needed.

“Our goal is to fulfill our promise,” Johnson said.
