Former Representative of New York Charles Rangel, a member of the Founder of the Black Caucus Congress who spent more than four decades in the DPR, died on Monday, according to his family. He is 94 years old.
Rangel, a Democrat, served in the Parliament from 1971 to 2017, spent part of his term of office as the Chairperson of the DPR and Facilities Committee.
“A figure who rises high in American politics and champions for justice, justice, and opportunities, Rangel Congress members dedicate more than four decades of their lives to public services,” his family said in a statement about his death.

While at the Congress, Rangel – Often referred to as “Lent Lenox Avenue” by the Harlem District – reached many of the first for 46 years at the congress: he was a member of the Founder of the Black Caucus Congress in 1971 and became the first black chairman of the Committee of Ways and Facilities in 2007.
He resigned from leading the Committee on a way and meaningful in the middle of the ethical scandal because it violated the rules of the house. Rangel was accused of 13 accusations of violating these rules, but firmly rejected mistakes. In the end, Rangel was found to have violated 11 separate and criticized DPR regulations – embarrassing the public in the room well.
The voting made him the 23rd DPR member to be criticized – and the first in almost 30 years.

However, after being involved in the scandal, Rangel was re -elected and then served two more term at the congress – and was still highly respected. When he was criticized, he talked about injury in the Korean war – where he received a purple star and bronze star with courage – and did not experience a bad day again since then.
After leaving the congress, Rangel served as a statesman who lived in the City College of New York, The website says.
“Rangel is a hero of war, a member of the congress that makes history, and members of the parliament,” wrote the university on his website, then added that he “was recognized as one of the legislators who worked the hardest at the congress.”
His family added that his inheritance lived through the Public Service Center of Charles B. Rangel School, “which continues to inspire and train the new generation of civil servants.”
‘Transformational Strength’
After the news of his death, tribute came from those who worked with former members of the congress and those who appreciate the work he did.
The Black Caucus Congress lamented through one of the founders of “Pioneer”, calling it “Definition of Life Fourced for Public Services.”
“The inheritance is one of the tireless advocacy, the first historic, and unwavering dedication for justice and equality. Hopefully he will rest in power and eternal peace,” said Chairman of the Black Caucus Congress Yvette Clarke in a statement.

Leaders of the DPR and fellow New York citizens Hakeem Jeffries respect Rangel Monday morning, acknowledged his services in the military and congress in A Post on x.

Chuck Schumer Senate Minority Leader Posted to x On Monday that Rangel “is a great man, good friend, and someone who never stops fighting for his constituents and the best from America.”
“The list of achievements can take the page, but he makes the world a far better place than he found,” Schumer said.
Rep. Nancy Pelosi, a former speaker at home, called Rangel “a legislator who has an impact and a lifetime voice for those who do not speak and the oppressed champion.”
“Throughout his decade of public services, the Chairman of Rangel is a skilled and endless advocate for justice, for equality and for Harlem people,” Pelosi said in a statement. “Hopefully it will be a consolation for his lovers who love Alma, their beloved children, Steven and Alicia and the entire Rangel family so that so much lamented their loss and prayed for them at this sad moment.”
