Two people were arrested in connection with the alleged targeting of the planned attack Lady Gaga Free concert at Copacabana Beach, Brazilian Civil Police confirmed.
The suspects – an adult man who was detained at Rio Grande Do Sul and a teenager who was arrested in Rio de Janeiro – was both reported by pop singer fans and allegedly planning to use improvised explosives, including Molotov cocktails, the authorities said. No explosives were found during the operation, according to the police.
Authorities say both are part of the online group that promotes hate speech and efforts to recruit other teenagers while encouraging acts of violence. One of the suspects was also found to have a child pornography, said the police.

The arrest was part of the Fake Monsters operation, a joint investigation led by the Brazilian Ministry of Justice, Federal Police, and digital intelligence services. This operation aims to prevent any threat before the singer’s historic performance on Saturday night, which attracts more than two million fans to Rio’s iconic beach.
Apart from the threat, the concert took place without an incident.
Civil Police in Rio de Janeiro released a video produced weighing on Sundays which detailed the police operation, which involved the implementation of a search warrant in several cities including Rio, NiterĂ³i, Duque de Caxias, and then.
“Those involved in the recruitment of participants almost carried out attacks using improvisation explosives were identified – the plan aims to get fame on social media,” the Civil Police said in a statement.

A spokesman for Lady Gaga said the singer and his team did not know about the operation until Sunday.
“We learned about this alleged threat through media reports this morning,” the statement said. “Before and during the show, there were no known security problems, or any communication from the police or authorities to Lady Gaga regarding potential risks. His team cooperated with law enforcement in all concert planning and implementation and all parties confident in the applicable safety steps.”
