“It feels like someone shakes the ground from below me,” said Laura Acevedo, a reporter at San Diego ABC Affiliate KGTVwhich is in the editorial room when the earthquake struck.

“Everything starts to tremble … Table shaking, TV screen,” he told ABC News.

Acevedo, who grew up in Los Angeles, said, “This is one of the two worst I have ever felt.”

A large Foreshock 3.3 struck on Sunday afternoon, said Dr. Lucy Jones, and the earthquake Monday morning were followed by several aftershocks in the range of 2 and 3 of the big.

Extreme damage was not expected, said Jones. Damage is possible for old buildings or buildings with poor foundations, he said.

The building “shook for a long time,” said Greg Allen, a Washington resident who visited San Diego.

“Everything moves, curtains and everything,” he told ABC News. “Then we heard people down the stairs. And because we were from out of town, we thought we might have to leave the building too.”

California Governor Gavin Newsom has been given a briefing and the state coordinates with local authorities, according to the Governor’s Office.
