4 Death After the Dump Truck Driver crashed into the crew of the utility worker: Police

A dump truck driver drove through a stop and crashing the crew of utility workers in North Carolina, killing four people and injuring three other people, the authorities said.

The incident occurred Thursday afternoon in the city of Eden, when the people worked on electricity channels in the area, according to the patrol of the State State of North Carolina.

The driver of an Eden Dump city truck is suspected of failing to stop at a stop and travel through an intersection before attacking six workers, according to the State Highway Patrol. The vehicle then crashed into a bucket truck that was occupied before ending in the trench, the agency said.

Four workers were declared dead at the scene. Two were flown to regional hospitals, with one in critical condition and the other in serious but stable conditions, according to the State Highway Patrol. Workers who were in a bucket truck at the time of the incident suffered an injury that was not life -threatening.

The driver of the city garbage truck, Michael Ray Vernon from 66 -year -old Eden, was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries, said the State Highway Patrol. He has been charged with a violation of a stop and minor violation by a motorized vehicle, said the authorities. The police said they did not believe he had a disturbance.

City official Eden said the patrol of the North Carolina State Highway was investigating.

“Our thoughts and prayers are addressed to the victims and their families from this terrible incident, and I want to thank the first respondents for their work,” Eden said Mayor Neville Hall in a video statement.

The city will not release any additional comments at this time, said Hall.

The people are contractors for Duke Energy, the company said.

“We are sad about this tragic event, and our hearts go to the family and teammates from those involved,” Duke Energy said in a statement. “Our employee safety, contractors, and customers are the highest priority in Duke Energy. We are working with law enforcement officials.”

The four men who were killed in the incident were identified by the State Highway Patrol as the Douglas Garland side, from Summerfield, 72; Madison Carter, from Sandy Ridge, 42; William Evans, from Randleman, 35; and Matthew Lockwood, from Winston-Salem, 30.

Three of those who were killed and the third injured were employees of Carolina Power and Signalization, the company said.

“Our hearts and prayers are addressed to the victims, colleagues, and family members affected by this terrible event,” Carolina Power said in a statement on Friday.

The side is a contract inspector who works for Victory Powerline Services.

“Doug tragically lost his life yesterday while doing the work he had loved throughout his career,” Victory Powerline Services said in a statement on Friday. “His enthusiasm for this industry is felt in victory, where he can lend his experience to the next generation.”

The collision is still being investigated.
